Trafalgar Square Fountains

Hidden London: Episode 4

Look carefully around one the fountains in Trafalgar Square and you may spot sharks as well. These replaced earlier designs by Sir Charles Barry, the fountains commemorate World War I naval heroes, Earls Jellicoe and Beattie.

Started before World War Il and completed in 1948, the fountains were built to reduce the size of crowds rioting in Trafalgar Square.

The fountains can be found here in the centre of Trafalgar Square, London, WC2N 5DN. The nearest tube/underground/metro stations are Charing Cross, Embankment, Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.
