Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds is the most famous wax works in the world. Its French founder Marie Tussaud started her trade in France and achieved fame by making death masks from the victims of the guillotine. In 1802 Tussaud arrived in England with life-size wax models and displayed these in a traveling show that toured this country for more than 30 years. In 1884 the Madame Tussaud exhibition moved from nearby Baker Street to its present site on Marylebone Road displaying 400 wax figures.
