Your visit starts at the Summit reception, where you meet your Climb Guide, complete a short safety briefing and are fitted with a full-body harness. Once you are securely attached to the continuous belay system, you’ll follow a specially designed route up onto the roof. As you climb, your guide will share stories about Alexandra Palace’s past, from the original Rose Window and wartime damage to the building’s role in broadcasting, concerts, and fireworks.
The route leads you towards the roof apex and the Angel of Plenty statue, where the views open up to a 360-degree panorama of London. On a clear day, you can pick out St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard, Canary Wharf, the London Eye and more, along with several Premier League football stadiums. There is time to pause, enjoy the skyline, and capture photos before making your way back to ground level.
You can choose the time of day that suits you: bright daytime Standard Climbs with wide-open views, Sunset Climbs timed for the golden hour, or London Lights evening climbs when the skyline glows after dark. Private climbs are also available if you would like the experience just for your group. Designed for ages 8 and over, Summit feels adventurous but accessible, with a steady pace, expert guides and all equipment included.
